Position Summary

The Sales and Marketing Officer (SMO) works closely with the Business Development Manager to research and develop various sales and marketing strategies in line with the products and services offered by 4WardEA and ensure the sales and marketing plans are implemented accordingly. The SMO will also build and maintain good customer relations, manage the Customer Relations Management (CRM) database and create sales reports for the NUMA and Pump Insurance Program (PiN) projects.

Time Allocation of Responsibilities

Time Allocation: 20%
Responsibility:
Conduct regular market research and contribute to the sales and marketing strategy development, implementation, supervision, and future recommendations of both the NUMA and PiN projects to ensure the projects’ profitability and sustainability. More so, the SMO will develop sales action plans to accomplish marketing and sales financial objectives.

Time Allocation: 20%
Responsibility:
The SMO will constantly strive to improve NUMA water sales by organizing community awareness events to promote NUMA in coordination with the Market Based Wash Manager, and lead in door-to-door sales for NUMA Now Connections in line 4WardEA plans, objectives, and sales and marketing strategy.

Time Allocation: 15%
Responsibility
: The SMO will ensure each community’s PiN MOU is signed and payments are made as specified within the contract. He/she will also be required to build and maintain the CRM database to facilitate the plans of engagement to gain a new client base within a new target market; sustains rapport with key accounts by making periodic visits; exploring specific needs; anticipating new opportunities.

Time Allocation: 15%
Responsibility:
The SMO will ensure each community’s Service Delivery Agreement for NUMA is signed and in place, as well train the NUMA System Vendors in sales and marketing to ensure they meet the quota sales target of 4WardEA and are able to earn a living wage through their commissions.

 

Time Allocation: 10%
Responsibility:
Collaborate with the WaSH department to effectively train communities in Market Based WaSH training. The SMO will keep and update impeccable records of marketing metrics and results of past campaigns.

Time Allocation: 10%
Responsibility: Reporting- Creating and presenting monthly sales performance reports. The SOM will gather, investigate, and summarize data and trends to provide accurate information through reports. He/ she will also be required to contribute to the submission of specific reports on mWater.

Time Allocation: 5%
Responsibility: Represent 4WardEA in all sales and marketing engagements including but not limited to industry exhibitions, workshops, conferences and industry related events to demonstrate products and services as deemed necessary by clients and management.

Time Allocation: 5%
Responsibility: Collaborates with the Business Development Manager, other managers and key employees to achieve the sales and marketing set goals. Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Business Development Manager or Director for the growth and development of operations in East Africa.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or related field.

  • Strong interpersonal and networking skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • 2+ years’ proven work experience as a sales and marketing officer

  • Passion for sales

  • Strong working knowledge of modern marketing and sales industry, including digital tools and techniques

  • Familiarity with data analysis and reporting

  • Ability to prioritize a diverse and heavy workload and meet tight deadlines.

  • Willingness and availability to work in Jinja, Uganda and travel regionally for field visits, and to work nights and weekends, as required
